The moment those home plans landed before my eyes, a vision unfurled – a precise styling I was determined to breathe into existence. That unique and playful rock wall, stretching from the front door to the heart of the home, became the soul-inspiring backbone of this Midcentury Modern Gem. The architecture’s clean lines begged for a dual transformation – an elevation and a gentle embrace of softness – a harmonious dance woven throughout the space.
Midcentury Modern homes often flaunt simplicity and minimalism, but in this canvas, I yearned to infuse every corner with life and character. A symphony of coordinating colors and styles orchestrates a melodic charm that caresses each nook while rendering every space a distinctive vignette.

Enter the mudroom, where the floor is a canvas of Trax Cement tiles – a playground of possibilities. The charm? The tile’s versatility, offering infinite permutations for patterns. In this abode, we opted for what I fondly term a “maze pattern” – a playful tapestry that enlivens the space.
The canvas of the powder bathroom was expansive, a territory ripe for a cool, modern embrace. The floor, a carefully choreographed symphony of marble tiles, cut and placed at a daring diagonal – a marriage of triangles and checkerboard. The walls, adorned with rich green porcelain tile, weave a common theme that resonates through the home. Inspired by the iconic pyramid motif often found in wallpapers and fabrics, we curated a meticulously aligned layout for the tub surround – every line, every angle a masterpiece in harmony.
In the basement bath, the philosophy was simplicity – a sentiment expressed flawlessly with a soft grey hexagon and a textured chevron-set tile, effortlessly chic and timeless.
The primary bathroom, a sprawling sanctuary with its lofty 15-foot ceiling, invited boundless design exploration. Large-format 24×24 cement-style porcelain tiles claimed their territory, visually expanding the expanse while ensuring textured intrigue underfoot. Tiling, floor to ceiling – a symphony of vertical and horizontal hand-crafted porcelain tiles orchestrates a dance of pattern. And with the grandeur of that lofty ceiling, a rain shower head in place, it was paramount to extend the tile in a seamless embrace that cascaded from the shower to the dropped ceiling, a true embodiment of holistic design.
In the heart of the home, where the kitchen and great room converge, it was about making an impactful statement while cherishing simplicity. The fireplace became a canvas for the Montauk Black Slate – bold and charismatic, yet effortlessly minimalist.
And in the kitchen, amidst the warm, inviting embrace of all-white oak-stained cabinets, the backsplash found its match in the Calacatta Gold Chevron Mosaic –
an audacious choice that paid off in spades. To those wary of “too busy,” let this be a resounding declaration – embrace the mosaic; its magic transforms spaces with timeless allure.
So there you have it, a tale of a Midcentury Modern Gem, reborn and reimagined, a canvas where every design choice hums with vibrancy, a symphony where every element, from the grand to the delicate, finds its harmonious place.
